Simplicity is the best policy!

You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep

‘Cause they’d fill the open air
And leave tear drops everywhere
You’d think me rude
But I would just stand and stare

I’d like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay
Awake when I’m asleep
‘Cause everything is never as it seems

‘Cause I’d get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance

A Foxtrot above my head
A sock hop beneath my bed
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread

I’d like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay
Awake when I’m asleep
‘Cause everything is never as it seems
When I fall asleep

Leave my door open just a crack
(Please take me away from here)
‘Cause I feel like such an insomniac
(Please take me away from here)
Why do I tire of counting sheep
(Please take me away from here)
When I’m far too tired to fall asleep

To ten million fireflies
I’m weird ’cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell

But I’ll know where several are
If my dreams get real bizarre
‘Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar

I’d like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay
Awake when I’m asleep
‘Cause everything is never as it seems
When I fall asleep

I’d like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay
Awake when I’m asleep
‘Cause everything is never as it seems
When I fall asleep

I’d like to make myself believe
That planet earth turns slowly
It’s hard to say that I’d rather stay
Awake when I’m asleep
Because my dreams are bursting at the seams

Now this song never stops amusing me! Whenever I listen to it I fall back in love with it. Takes me back to my dreams, where I’m in control of everything, and by everything I mean everything and everyone! It reminds me of the little details of life that we often fail to cherish when these  details require our prompt attention and care. I’ve always believed that real beauty lies in real details. We shouldn’t always be aiming for bigger goals in life, ignoring all the smaller achievements by not sharing them with our loved ones, because at the of the day why do we do things in life really? The only true answer is because we want to share them. Anyway, It’s needless to say one should be ambitious in life but at the same time one should always take time out for the little things that matter to most of us!

Another essence that I’d like to talk about from the song, is that one should always take his time doing things. There are no shortcuts in life, and it’s for all the good reasons, only that we don’t see the reasons then. Life can only teach its lessons by letting us experiment all the way through it, from the day we are born till the day we stop existing. People who look for shortcuts they keep doing so for the rest of their lives up until when it’s time for them to go back to the (ALLAH)Creator and then they realise that there were no shortcuts, really. It’s just like when they say that the journey is as important as the destination. There’s one more thing, until and unless you prove yourself worthy of something you can’t really enjoy it, it doesn’t matter you earn it or get it for free! So yeah, I think we should cherish each moment that we live and live it as if it is our last!

The last thing that it reminds me of, is childhood innocence and childhood on the whole. It makes me think about why and how our lives become so complicated. Why do people become complicated? Why don’t things and relationships stay the same forever? Where does our own simplicity go? Why do people start having different opinions about things? Why do people start hating other people? Why?

Anyway, I think these questions cannot be answered or maybe I don’t have the wisdom to go about answering these complex questions about the philosophy of life, because at least I don’t want to participate in this chaos. Not anymore! I always lived a simple life and simple life is what everyone should live.

So yeah, this song is all about wanting to keep things simple like they were in our childhood. It’s about remembering and trying to hold on to our childhood and never letting it go! Which I think is a brilliant idea, because life was so much more beautiful then, than what it has become.

LoSerpan and it’s biggest side effect!

LoSerpan: Something that losers do!

To talk about it in detail I can tell you that it is the false belief that you’re in ‘love’ with someone, which leads to a relationship. It is also the result of a prior commitment between two individuals who think it’s ‘OK’ to be in a relationship as they are going to become life partners later in life. Such commitments are often secret, unofficial and non-marital, and so is everything else resulting from such commitments.

Girl in Regret - Image Source: http://schoolistuff.blogspot.com/2010/11/regret.html

So, why is it called LoSerpan? Because it is actually giving in to your weaknesses, whereby you compromise on things like values, religion, culture, modesty, conscience and then there comes a time when you think you’re already dead, if not really, then at least you start believing that! Well, that’s not entirely true my friends, but that’s a different story and a different perspective of it…

Anyway, my point behind this blog post is not just to tell you people about LoSerpan, because people normally know what LoSerpan is, no matter what they call it. My point here is to warn you guys and girls about LoSerpan’s biggest side effect. And yeah, mind you, there are so many other side effects that a ‘sane’ person would never fall for any type of LoSerpan, but then again, that’s why people like me, call it LoSerpan: Something that losers do. The biggest side effect is the regret that you get out of losing your virginity with the wrong person at the wrong time in your life, believing that it’s ‘OK’ because he/she is eventually going to be your husband or wife. And this is often done in naivety, though I wouldn’t call individuals involved ‘innocent’ in any way, but yeah to an extent they don’t really know what they’re doing and how dreadfully they’re going to regret it for the rest of their lives.

There are many factors behind this ‘side effect’. Our media: films, television, advertisements, and even the news nowadays promote such relationships and commitments. Our friends in LoSerpan make it look and sound good only because they’re losers themselves. Siblings, just because my brother/sister has a girlfriend/boyfriend I have to keep one as well, and so many other factors that I don’t want to talk about…

To conclude, I would say I have seen it and heard it enough times now, people in LoSerpan I have just one thing to say to you, It’s never too late to sort things out in your head and in your life. Everyone is entitled to make mistakes in their life but as they say it: Not learning from a mistake is a bigger mistake! Don’t make bigger mistakes and ruin your life completely, if not for yourself, do it for other people in your life, people who ‘really’ love you.

In the end, I would like you all to watch this music video ‘Khwabon ke rishte’ by Najam Shiraz it has a lesson for all the LoSers in LoSerpan!

Laundry!

Laundry

Yes I don’t like doing things like laundry every now and then. Yeah, I mean I do it when I’ve got no more clothes left in my closet.

This is one more not-so-productive chore that I don’t do. There’s one more(ironing), but that’s a different thing… So yeah, I only wash my clothes when there is no other option left! So basically I wash all of my jeans, trousers, shirts, t-shirts and other tops and stuff once they’re are all in the laundry bag!

I mean come on, how can you find time to do your laundry every week and some people even do it twice a week, I’m like puff! How can you be this unoccupied? Speaking of which also reminds me that today we are so much into the digital world that in my daily routine I spend like good 10 to 12 hours of my day in front of my laptop and that too doing what? Facebook-ing, Twitter-ing, YouTube-ing, Stumbling Upon, Blogging, Flickr-ing, News, Views, and so much more and all this takes up your time!

Because I live with friends, it makes it even worst! Living with your family would have helped me with this but no I don’t live with my family because they’re back home in Pakistan

Anyway so much so for my POV about laundry!

Cheers

Independence Day of Pakistan 2011

Hassan Saeed 2 by M B A Khan

Wallah, here comes the Independence Day once again!

And we still stand divided, not united! Just like last year and the year before, in fact since last few years I’ve been noticing that people have different opinions and feelings about Pakistan’s Independence and they all want to express them on this day. I mean come on! Why only today?

Some say that it shouldn’t be celebrated, yeah, the Independence Day itself, because they think that Pakistan is still not Independent. Well, to an extent I would agree with these people, but then again, anyway umm… yeah, then there is a whole lot of people celebrating just for the sake of political gains, then there are some people who just take it as a day off. Some make going out plans with family and friends because they don’t find any other day than the Independence Day of their Country to spend time with their family and friends. Then there are people who would want to do something on this day which makes them a proud Pakistani irrespective of what the rest of the world thinks of Pakistan and Pakistanis.

Anyway, my point here is that why do we always have different thoughts about the Independence Day of Pakistan? Our own country? Why are we so divided? When are we going to act like a Nation? Why can’t we just agree on ONE thing for once? Not even on the Independence Day?

Thanks for the read.

Coming back after ages!

Here I come again with all the excuses in the world for not writing and not doing anything worth my time(at least in my opinion). Anyway, yes I’ve been away for donkey’s years, at least it feels like it when I look at my last blog post which was 21st of April 2011.

Well quite a few things happened since then, I went to that Photography Festival that I was on about, had fun over there, learned quite a few things, experienced what it feels like when you stand/sit with some of the top photographers in the world. Sony was quite big over there as they were the main organisers and what more can a Sony fanatic ask for than representing the brand itself at the WPO Festival. I attended this London Documentary Project with about 60 other photographers and one of my picture’s got selected for the exhibition as well. Other than that there were quite a few things going on during that week (26th of April – 1st of May). Yes it was the week of the Royal Wedding and I was there documenting it through my lens. Here I should also admit that for the ‘brits’ Royal Wedding was something astounding. They gathered at St. James Park, Trafalgar Square, and Westminster Abbey, I mean all over the Central London there were millions of people celebrating the wedding ceremony of their beloved Princess Diana’s Son William and Kate. Now I know it’s old news for the world but I’m just writing it down for the sake of record.

Just as I came back to Bradford, I had so many things planned but I don’t know, or maybe I do know but I don’t want to accept that I know, I just went into this ‘leave me alone’/’don’t talk to me’ mode… and whenever this happens I tend to stick to only a couple of buddies and sometimes not even them it’s only me acting like some loner who has nobody left in the world to take care of. Also I stop doing all the productive things that I sometimes do, so yeah it’s pretty much the time for me to go into some rehab or something.

Gradually I recovered and now that I’m writing over here it means I’m reawakened and I’ve become serious about things again. Things like my life, my deen(religion), my career, my aims, my relationships, my dealings, my photography, my blog, my bank, my family, my friends, and even my enemies, basically all of my stuff…. 🙂 Getting serious over here means, to an extent, acknowledging the existence of these ‘things’. Now what plans and how I will go about these plans are completely different ‘things’. Allah knows/plans best!

Oh, Almost forgot, Ramadan Mubarak Everyone, yeah Ramadan started on the 1st of August here in the UK, back home it was 2nd of August. Now that Ramadan is here, it’s always been a great imaan charger for me! And this is exactly what I’m trying to do this Ramadan to get the bar as high up as I can. I wish and pray that everyone gets to benefit from this ‘holy month’ as it is always a great opportunity for the Muslims.

I know I should have made separate blog posts for all of these different topics but never mind, at least I’m back to life! Again!

Bye now.
